recounts being at the center of the unrest with her young son through the fires, smoke, and violence.

β€œIt hurts. That man shouldn't have gone through that beating. That's unfair. But then to go, break, and steal from another person? That I don't agree with...

So I was holding my kid and I didn't know which way to go. I was on Western and Pico. All of that was full of people running away and breaking and stealing.

So I had to walk, I think, on Wilshire, to see if I could take a bus, but there were no buses. Everyone was running away in their cars, and I was running and walking with my kid. So for me, it was very impactful. Very harsh to see that.

I'll never forget that. I have those images in my mind.”
