Silvia Cossrecalls her raw fear and uncertainty in reaction to the the police response to the 1992 Civil Unrest. “From what I heard back then on TV, maybe it's not the truth, but on the TV, all the police were focused on protecting Beverly Hills and Brentwood. So they were protecting those neighborhoods. And that's when Asians and we had to defend ourselves from the riots, right? So business owners got their own guns. And others like me? We were under the bed. We didn't know when the building was going to be burned down.”
