Writing Workshop with Leah Wang

During the months of November and December, KSP held a two-part Flash Fiction Workshop led by Leah Wang. Leah is an English and Asian American Literature instructor at Marlborough School. Specializing in ethnic studies and diaspora literature, she is passionate about writing and researching on cultural expressions amongst various diasporas of contemporary America.

In these workshops, students learned the basics of flash fiction, followed by group close-readings of Rachel Chou’s “Never-ending Chinatown” and Bonnie Chau’s “I See My Eye in Your Eye.” They also took time to create their own writing around topics of healing, memory, and boundaries, and received feedback on their work.

As our students have begun conducting oral history interviews for our Traditional Healing Arts cohort, these workshops provided space to consider their own stories and how they can be presented through writing. Special thank you to Leah for guiding us through writing intentionally and finding our unique voice!
