KSP x KAS Elder Interviews!
Last weekend, with Korean American Story, Koreatown Storytelling Program youth participants interviewed four older adults about their life, memories, and experiences. We learned so much about the history of Koreatown and the specific life stories of our narrators, and several youths chose to interview elders who they have known for a long time.
One of our KSP youth, Nadia, interviewed her grandmother, Nancy, about her life in the U.S. as a “student-wife” in Houston, Texas in the 1960s and the early days of L.A.’s Koreatown, where she worked for several decades at one of the first accounting firms in the neighborhood. It was inspiring to see a connection of deeper knowledge being formed between them.
Thank you Nadia and Nancy for really showing us the meaning and importance of Global Intergenerational Week!
