KSP Conducts Oral History Interviews!
This month, Koreatown Storytelling Program students Dale Lee and Ava McCollum interviewed two of our older Koreatown foodmakers—Mrs. Lucia Jeong and Mrs. Young Sook Kim. Over shared snacks and drinks, the KSP students spoke to the older adults about their life stories, immigration experiences, and their food memories around kimchi.
These interviews are a part of this year's KSP exploration of food in Koreatown. We are thinking deeply about what food means to us individually and culturally, how we can preserve traditional methods of foodmaking, and where the sources of our food comes from—whether in a garden, restaurant or market.
Documenting the lives of Koreatown residents is a pleasure we do not take for granted and we want to deeply thank Mrs. Jeong and Mrs. Kim for inviting us into their homes and trusting us with their stories.
