KSP Kimchi Making Workshop with LA Opera!
On Fri., June 17, KSP hosted a kimchi making demonstration as a part of LA Opera’s Arts and Health Week programming which aimed to explore the intersection between arts and health on wellness across LA County. LA Opera, KYCC staff, and KSP students joined each other in learning the process and technique of our foodmaker’s, Mrs. Jeong, Napa Cabbage Kimchi 배추김치.
During the event participants followed the instructions of Mrs. Jeong in real time and produced 40 jars of kimchi that event attendees were able to take home in addition to the knowledge they gained of the Korean tradition of making kimchi.
In a true display of intergenerational collaboration, KSP student Dale Lee assisted in the presentation and cooking. The communication between Dale and Mrs. Jeong is an example of the importance of intergenerational connection KSP works to facilitate.
