Koreatown Tour

On Saturday, June 1, KSP Program Director Katherine Kim co-led a Koreatown tour for the 2024 California Preservation Foundation in Los Angeles. To celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month, the tour, which was hosted by the Asian & Pacific islanders in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP), explored Los Angeles’s five Asian American historic neighborhoods (Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town). Speakers from the neighborhoods discussed best practices and challenges related to historic preservation, community engagement, and economic development. The tour featured key historical and cultural landmarks in these Preserve America Communities, including artistic sites and small businesses.

Katherine was joined by her colleague Christina Park, City Planning Associate at the Office of Historic Resources, City of Los Angeles. Tour stops included DaWoolJung, Kim Bang Ah, Koreatown Development Association, Koreatown Youth and Community Center, and Chapman Plaza.
