We had an incredible night exploring race and class in Los Angeles with our partners @KAFLA and @KYCCLA, and @CTGLA's performance of monologues from Twilight, a play that continues to be relevant decades after the 1992 LA Civil Unrest and the issues of race and class that surrounded it. Afterward, we had a thought-provoking conversation with Steph Cha, author of YOUR HOUSE WILL PAY, who shared her deep insights into Los Angeles' racial tensions and cultural clashes.

Learn how to make Guatemalan Chilaquilas with KSP and Jose Spillari!
Recently, Chef Jose Spillari of Paseo Chapin taught Koreatown Storytelling Program & KYCC Bridge Students how to make Guatemalan Chilaquilas. The chilaquilas consisted of chayote and queso fresco fried in an egg batter and topped with a delicious roasted salsa. Jose was a joy to have as a culinary guide and we learned so much from him about how to make food as well as his own food memories and stories.

KSP Foodmaking Project w/ On Being x CoGenerate
The On Being Project and CoGenerate, created a guide to meaningful cogenerational knowledge sharing through the intimate process of creating and sharing a recipe together. This semester our youth participants have shared this experience with older adults and have learned new recipes, cooking techniques, and about the personal experience and memories of foodmakers!

Koreatown Storytelling Program is an intergenerational, multilingual and multiethnic oral history and digital media program that teaches storytelling techniques to high school students and elders to document cultural practices and racial, economic inequities in our community. KSP also promotes greater understanding and respect between generations and documents marginalized narratives for preservation in public archives while cultivating wellness outcomes for all participants.

KAS x KSP: Starting 2023 with Oral History Interviews!
Seven Koreatown narrators came out last month to our oral history recordings in partnership with @koreanamericanstory. We are interviewing people in the FOOD INDUSTRY, as well as neighborhood elders who are sharing stories about their immigration experiences, breathtaking talent, and lifelong interests and passion.
KSP Holiday Party at Paseo Chapin!
In December, Koreatown Storytelling Program participants and interns gathered for a celebration of the holidays and completion of the first half of the 2022-23 cohort! Over delicious Guatemalan food at Paseo Chapin, students and interns commemorated their work and looked excitedly towards the future. Everyone particularly enjoyed the mole de plátano and we wanted to give a big thank you to Chef Jose for welcoming us into his restaurant and preparing a beautiful meal.

KSP x CoGenerate: Generations Over Dinner
KSP joined CoGenerate for an intergenerational backyard gathering on Nov. 15 in Koreatown. Based on Generations Over Dinner, a program that models and creates "an experience that connects and values all perspectives across the age continuum," we joined together over tacos and meaningful conversation that was prompted by a dinner script.
