KSP Gets $100,000 Snap Foundation Grant!!!
KSP was super honored to be granted $100,000 from the Snap Foundation for our 2023-2024 cohort on the LGBTQIA+ community in Koreatown.
KSP Awarded the Honda Community Grant!
KYCC’s Koreatown Storytelling Project (KSP) has been awarded a 2023-2024 Honda Community Grant for $25,000, which will contribute directly to the growth of KSP and the expansion of intergenerational outreach events and historical multimedia education in the Koreatown community.

KSP at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference 2023
This year’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference was held from June 26-29 in Anaheim, CA. Koreatown Storytelling Program Director Katherine Kim, alongside CoGenerate’s Janet Oh and Elly Katz, as well as Civics Unplugged’s Michaela Davenport, spoke on a panel to discuss co-mentorship between youth and older adults and the importance of intergenerational relationships in supporting youth leadership.

On Thursday the KSP team visited the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures with some of our friends at St. James Manor to watch a screening of Next Sohee, directed by Jung July.

KSP's 2022-2023 cohort on the food industry in Koreatown has reached its culmination, and we couldn't be prouder of our participants. To celebrate we gathered at Feng Mao Lamb Kebab on Western for a meal with KSP students, the amazing individuals we interviewed and learned from, as well as our dedicated interns!
Koreatown Storytelling Program and Korean American Story Interview with Barbara Uni Lee Potter
In 2022 and in partnership with Korean American Story, Koreatown Storytelling Program interviewed Barbara Uni Lee Potter. Barbara spoke to her experiences of being a Korean American Pioneer, a descendant of the First Wave of Korean immigration, and one of the earliest known Korean American adoptees.

AAPI Curriculum Hits Fundraising Goal

Koreatown Storytelling Program to Receive $30,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) has been approved for a $30,000 grant award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), for the second time, to support the Koreatown Storytelling Program! Learn more here!
We Went Shopping with Jenny for Japchae!
Koreatown Storytelling Program will be learning how to make JAPCHAE from Jenny! Before the big cooking day we went with Jenny and Cathy to get ingredients and supplies. We CANNOT wait to learn (and to eat) Jenny’s delicious japchae and share the recipe with you.

Thank you for joining Koreatown Storytelling Program, @GYOPO.us, San Gabriel Valley PFLAG and the UCLA community @uclagenderstudies at Navel for last weekend’s @Navel.LA screening of the South Korean documentary Coming To You! It was SO special to meet the director, Byun Gyuri @gyuri_byun, the stars of the documentary, Vivian and Nabi, and be in such a warm and welcoming space. After the powerful screening, KSP participant Chloe Kim Manilay shared the stage with the stars and SGV PFLAG activist Sung Tse in a panel discussion of the film and their experiences with some time for a Q&A!
